Meet Rise Creative: Andile Buka
Andile Buka is a self-taught fine art, documentary and commercial photographer based in Johannesburg. Born in 1990 and raised in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg, Andile spends his days shooting in his studio or cycling around the Joburg CBD scouting inner-city locations or interesting people to photograph. Andile’s documentation of street style and collaboration with the Sartists has gained wide attention. He has shot local campaign images for adidas and Superga, and his work has been published in various print and online publication such as Destiny Man, Superbalist, Casimir, Between 10and5, Bubblegum Club, BBC and VSCO. Andile has participated in numerous group exhibitions both locally and internationally. In 2015 he showed at the 18th Internationale Schillertage Festival in Mennheim, Germany, and the Lagos Photo Festival. In year 2016 he participated in a group exhibition, ͞Fashion Cities Africa͟, at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery in the UK, and ͞Find Us On The Map͟ at Rush Arts Gallery in New York. Most recently Andile collaborated on an exhibition with Naohiro Harada at Totodo Books in Tokyo.
