Popular band photographer, Hanro Havenga quickly established a name for himself within the music, street photography and documentary genres. His images are characterised by their authenticity, which reflects his ‘always-on’ approach. He was the official photographer for the We Are Awesome series of international concerts, shooting Little Dragon, The Kooks, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and The Drums when they were each in South Africa, as well as Desmond and the Tutus on a recent national tour. Hanro is famed for his fly on the wall behind-the-scenes skills, notable commissions being the Ragga Bomb video for Skrillex and the feature film Necktie Youth. Building on his musical and documentary roots Hanro, a Cannes Young Lions and Vega Pencil award winner, has worked with numerous advertising agencies on commercial campaigns in addition to exhibiting at Foam Museum Amsterdam, featuring work from his ongoing collaboration with The Sartists.
