Myburgh du Plessis

Myburgh du Plessis has built his career around a specialty in food, product, and packaging photography, a niche that demands both technical precision and creative patience. He sharpened his skills while living and working in the UK, where much of his early work involved shooting for the restaurant industry, including collaborations with Michelin-starred chefs.

During that period, he also built an extensive body of work in publishing, shooting for more than 50 cookbooks — a body of work that required him to translate recipes and ingredients into images capable of making food look as good on the page as it tastes at the table. That experience gave him a deep, practical understanding of how lighting, styling, and composition come together specifically for food subjects.

In 2012, Myburgh brought his expertise back home to South Africa, where he built a strong local portfolio in close collaboration with major brands. His client list includes Woolworths, Le Creuset, Kauai, Unilever, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Five Roses, reflecting both the range of his commercial relationships and the trust major companies have placed in his ability to consistently deliver polished, appetite-driving imagery across categories.
