Hanro Havenga
Hanro Havenga quickly established himself within music, street photography, and documentary genres, building a reputation around an "always-on" approach that produces images and footage defined by their authenticity. Rather than staging moments, he captures them as they happen, giving his work an immediacy that has become his defining characteristic across both stills and motion.
That approach led to a run as the official photographer for the We Are Awesome concert series, where he shot international acts including Little Dragon, The Kooks, and The Drums during their South African tours, along with Desmond and the Tutus on a national tour. His fly-on-the-wall, behind-the-scenes skills also produced notable commissions, including the Ragga Bomb video for Skrillex and work on the feature film Necktie Youth.
Building on those musical and documentary roots, Hanro, a Cannes Young Lions and Vega Pencil award winner, has gone on to work with numerous advertising agencies on commercial campaigns spanning both photography and video. His work has also been exhibited at Foam Museum Amsterdam, showcasing his ongoing collaboration with The Sartists, and his broader client list includes brands such as Adidas, Nike, Investec, and Mercedes-Benz.
